NHRA star Courtney Force visits Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn to promote teen driving safety

DEARBORN — Courtney Force visited Ford World Headquarters last week to help Ford Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) mark its 10th year of training teens around the world how to drive safely.

Force, in her third year as spokesperson for the teen safe driving outreach program, met with Ford DSFL employees, signed autographs, visited The Henry Ford museum and spoke with media in the Detroit area.

“I was really happy to come here to Ford and talk about Ford Driving Skills for Life,” said Force, driver of the Traxxas Ford Mustang Funny Car program. “It’s so important to make sure teens get the advice and knowledge they need to be safe on the roads, and then carry those lessons through adulthood.”

Ford DSFL’s hands-on, dynamic driving school helps young drivers improve their skills in four key areas: 1) Hazard Recognition; 2) Vehicle Handling; 3) Speed Management; and 4) Space Management, as well as a special focus on distracted driving – all behind the wheel of Ford’s latest products, like Mustangs and Fusions.

The award-winning program was established by Ford Motor Company Fund, the Governors Highway Safety Association and a panel of safety experts in 2003 to teach newly licensed teens the necessary skills for safe driving beyond what they learn in standard driver education programs.
“It’s exciting to have Courtney here at Ford,” said Jim Graham, manager, Community Relations. “She’s done a great job for us the last few years and we were happy to be able to show her the enthusiasm and dedication of our staff here behind the scenes.”

Force’s tour of The Henry Ford included a stop at Sweepstakes, the car Henry Ford drove to a win in his first and only race. Ford used the money won to attract the investors that allowed him to found Ford Motor Company.
